The next step in WPIAL football is a change of questions. The regular-season weekend is still ahead; November will bring opponents, dates and a tournament route that fans can follow on an official bracket.
For now, the firm starting point is the league’s calendar. WPIAL labels October 30–31 as Week 10, then lists playoff dates on November 6–7 and November 13–14. Its championship directory places the 2026 football tournament between November 6 and November 28. WPIAL football calendar · Championship directory
A Friday fixture already on the school calendar
Northgate’s own varsity schedule lists Cornell at Alumni Stadium on Friday, October 30, at 7 p.m., with Senior Night attached to the entry. That gives fans a concrete final-week option to plan around. It does not, by itself, establish either team’s playoff position or a win-and-in scenario. Northgate’s official football schedule
That distinction matters this week. A scheduled matchup, a reported final score and an official tournament assignment answer different questions. A preview can identify the game; a recap can report what happened; the bracket establishes the next tournament opponent.
The November dates to keep in view
WPIAL’s fall championship announcement lists a football championship date on November 21 with the location still to be determined in that notice. It lists November 28 at Acrisure Stadium for Classes 1A, 2A, 3A and 5A. The announcement says locations and dates can change, so fans should check the league’s current championship information before making plans. WPIAL fall championship announcement
What to watch for when the bracket arrives
Start with the classification and opponent. Then confirm the round’s date, kickoff and site rather than assuming the higher-listed team’s usual stadium is the venue. Keep ticket and broadcast plans tied to the actual game listing.
The calendar offers the framework. The next official bracket will turn it into individual matchups. Until then, this is the week to finish watching the regular season—and keep predictions clearly separate from confirmed assignments.
